Narrow-web aficionados—and those who love “not so narrow-web converting,” too—will have plenty to keep them busy next week. The biennial Labelexpo Americas 2012 will run Tuesday-Thursday at the Stephens Convention Ctr. in Rosemont, IL (just outside Chicago). It’s preceded by the Alexander Watson Associates’ Label Release Liner Industry Seminar on Monday at the Hyatt Rosemont Hotel.
The entire Tarsus Exhibitions-organized Labelexpo series has evolved over the past few years to become more of a package-printing show, i.e.: it’s not just labels anymore. Standouts at the 400-exhibitor event include the Package Printing Zone, the Laser Diecutting Workshop and the Digital Printing Masterclass. “Green” initiatives will get special emphasis with the Ecovillage of environmental products & services displays. Also with the help of Greenwood Fuels and Channeled Resources, waste label matrix will be collected every few hours and taken to the Ecovillage to show the amount of waste that could potentially be recycled rather than going to landfills. After the show, the waste will be compacted by Greenwood Fuels and turned into fuel pellets.
Among the presentations at the AWA Label Release Liner Seminar will be a global market overview, along with a closer look at opportunities in South America; a label’s value in a green economy value chain; three talks on new coating/laminating manufacturing technologies; and another three on release-liner material developments.
I’ll be Tweeting and Blogging on both the seminar and tradeshow, so follow me in real-time or check back for my reports later this month.
