I just did a count, and 18 days next month I’ll be out of the office either traveling or covering a whole slew of converting- and packaging-related events for this Blog as well as the print and digital editions of the new CONVERTING QUARTERLY. So, I wanted to give you all a heads-up and quick rundown on the conferences and meetings because many of them are still open for registration and/or discounted hotel-room rates.
March 1: PMMI is organizing its second-annual PACK EXPO Thought Leaders Meeting and Dinner. The invitation-only program will feature panel discussions and presentations by packaging and processing-solution providers and CPG end-users. PMMI will also share the latest news about PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011, set for Sept. 26-28 at the Vegas Convention Ctr.
March 2-3: Converters Expo 2011 will feature about 100 converters and industry suppliers at the Lambeau Field Atrium in Green Bay, WI. Tours of five local, related companies and an evening attendees’ reception March 2nd precede the trade show on March 3rd. Stop by Booth C208 to pick up a copy of the premiere issue of CONVERTING QUARTERLY.
March 9-11: Moving to more balmy climes, I’ll be at the Flexible Packaging Assn. annual meeting in Naples, FL, for three days of in-depth business reports on what clearly constitutes the major market for web-processed, flexible, converted materials. A highlight of the program on that Friday will be Steve Forbes, chairman/CEO of Forbes, Inc., and editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, presenting “Navigating the Current Economy for Business Growth and Success.”
March 20-23: The members-only March Management Meeting of the Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators is “Square One” for the web-processing and finishing industries’ leaders. Along with two business, two law and three economics presentations, a golf scramble and receptions over the course of three days in Carefree, AZ, that opening Sunday night includes the 2011 AIMCAL Awards Banquet. Winners of the Vacuum Coated & Metallized Product, Sustainability and Technology of the Year competitions will be announced.
March 29-April 1: Organized by Alexander Watson Associates, two important, annual conferences will run consecutively these four days in Chicago: The Mergers & Acquisitions Executive Forum 2011 and the Global Release Liner Industry Conference & Exhibition 2011—both at the Hyatt Rosemont Hotel. I look forward to the latest business trends, raw-material projections and finished-goods (and end-use market) forecasts to come out of these two programs.
What I’m NOT looking forward to is figuring out how the 2011 Quarter 2 issue of CONVERTING QUARTERLY will get done at the same time. Fortunately, I’ve got a terrific managing editor and art director at Peterson Publications to help save the day. Watch for a preview of our second issue in my next post.
