Coating/laminating, vacuum coating focus of AIMCAL fall conference
The Assn. of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) will host its annual Fall Technical Conference and 24th Intl. Conference on Vacuum Web Coating Oct. 17-20 at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, SC. The dual-track schedule devoted to Coating/Laminating and Vacuum Web Coating opens and closes with joint sessions on developments in nanotechnology, conductive films, photovoltaic technology, sustainability, markets, and business practices.
Two optional four-hr short courses on Oct. 17, “Barrier Coatings by Vacuum Deposition” and “Electrostatics in Web Handling,” will precede the keynote address, “From the Minds of Scientists to the Hands of Consumers,” by Roger Phillips, a coating technology consultant, and Patrick Higgins of JDSU-Flex Products Group, Santa Rosa, CA. The program also includes Tabletop Receptions on Oct. 17 and 18.
This year’s conference is dedicated to the late John Pasquale, PE, an industry icon in coating/laminating equipment manufacturing, who served as senior vp of New Era Converting Machinery, Inc. (Paterson, NJ). A staunch supporter of AIMCAL, he co-chaired its Coating & Laminating Committee and played a major role in Fall Technical Conference planning for several years. More info
