Appleton to sell its Performance Packaging ops for $58 million
A newly formed company, NEX Performance Films, Inc., which is owned by private-equity firm Mason Wells, will purchase the WI-based converter’s Performance Packaging operations for $58 million. The sale lets Appleton consolidate offerings and focus on its core specialty-paper and Encapsys® microencapsulation businesses. The deal is expected to be completed later this month. Appleton’s Performance Packaging unit produces single and multilayer polyethylene films at two wholly-owned subsidiaries: American Plastics (Rhinelander, WI) and New England Extrusion (Turners Falls, MA, and Milton, WI).
