IADD·FSEA Odyssey set to return to Nashville in May 2011
Targeted specifically to the diemaking, diecutting, foil/embossing and specialty-effects converting processes, the IADD·FSEA Odyssey will return to the Nashville Convention Ctr. for its three-day run, May 4-6, 2011. Flint Group to hike packaging-ink prices in Europe
Citing rising costs for raw materials, the global printing-ink provider will increase prices for packaging inks in Europe by 6% to 7%, effective July 15. “The two key contributors are major shortages of key raw materials on one side and ongoing base chemical cost increases on the other side,” said Jens Zimmermann, director global marketing, Flint Group Packaging & Narrow Web. “This has been driven by supply/demand imbalances on the raw-material markets caused by the economic revival as well as a significant de-stocking of most raw-material supply chains following the economic collapse at the end of 2008.”
Mondi raises sack kraft-paper prices €100/ton
Effective Aug. 1, substrate provider and packaging converter Mondi will increase prices by €100 per metric ton on all sack kraft-paper grades for all European markets. While prices have risen several times this year, said sales/marketing director-kraft paper Conny Josefsson, the latest hike will return prices only back to the level at the beginning of 2008. To compensate for steep increases in raw-material costs, Josefsson said prices may have to rise further by year’s end.
Flint Group closes on purchase of packaging-ink maker Torda
The packaging and print-media ink supplier completed its acquisition today of packaging ink manufacturer Torda. A leading supplier to packaging markets in Northern Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East, Torda also has a substantial presence in Eastern Europe. It generated revenues of approximately €23m in 2009.
