Graphic Packaging Intl. to close Golden, CO, packaging plant
The substrate provider and paperboard printer/converter plans to shutter its Golden, CO, beverage-packaging manufacturing facility, transitioning business and equipment to other US operating sites. The closure reflects the company’s continuing alignment of its manufacturing footprint to changing market needs, GPI says. “While closing the Golden facility is a difficult decision, it is necessary to ensure that we are able to consistently serve our customers and meet their changing needs from a solid network of efficient, low-cost manufacturing facilities,” said GPI president/CEO David Scheible. UK retailer first to use thermoformable-paper meat packaging

PACK EXPO Brand Zone to bow in Chicago, introduce “Project 2020”

(Oct. 31–Nov. 3) at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Flex-pack machinery maker Uteco sets US open house Oct. 5-7
Uteco North America will host an open house at its Kennesaw, GA, facility Oct. 5-7. The Diamond HP 808 CI-flexographic printing press will be available for demonstrations. The 51-in.-wide system runs at speeds up to 1,960 fpm. Among the participating suppliers are Enercon Industries, Rossini, Sun Chemical, MAX Daetwyler and Grafikontrol. More info
