I’ll be in Chicago (okay, technically Rosemont, IL) Tuesday for the Mergers & Acquisitions Executive Forum at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. The concentrated, one-day affair will take a focused look at the resin- and fiber-based packaging, coating and converting industries’ likely chances for further consolidation in 2010 and beyond. Organized by AWA Conferences, the forum is also supported in part by AIMCAL.
Numerous M&A opps abound for both strategic and private-equity buyers across the entire field, says Thomas Blaige, CEO of Blaige & Co., a key program speaker. Packaging M&A activity has continued despite the economic slowdown, and this momentum is indicative of global consolidation in the sector, he says.
Two presentations I’m especially looking forward to: Mondi head of M&A Markus Fürst on “Mondi’s Acquisition Strategy in the Release-Liner Segment,” and “M&As in the Label Industry” by CCL Label president Geoffrey T. Martin. Both companies are key players in their respective (and related) converting industries.
