Stay tuned for two on-site reports next week, right here, exclusively from The Converting Curmudgeon.
First off, digital-printing consultant Kevin Karstedt will be returning from the huge IPEX printing fair in Birmingham, UK, which wraps up next Tuesday. He’ll provide fodder for my “Digital Packaging Printing & Converting Technology Mashup”—a rundown on the latest machinery and material developments making their debuts, as well as line and capability extensions. With the market for digitally printed labels and packaging expected to more than double from $1.95 billion last year to $4.05 billion by 2014, it’s a report you can’t afford to miss (InfoTrends stat).
Next up: “Automation, Efficiency & The Next Big Thing” is the theme of the Converting Influence meeting next Wednesday at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. A five-member panel (including Yours Truly) will dissect conveyor impact on efficiency, robotics, software, Earth-friendly meltblown substrates and converting trends (my specialty). Look for my summary of the presentations as well as audience interaction. (Pssst: I’ll cover a market forecast, printed electronics, sustainability and more.)
Want to be there in person? The Converting Influence program, which includes a tabletop exhibition, runs from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. To register, click HERE.
