Sustainable, freezable bioplastic film takes a bow
German bioplastics developer FKuR debuts what it calls “the world’s first sustainable, deep-freeze packaging made from renewable resources.” Based on FKuR certified, compostable biofilms, the material is a three-layer system using two Bio-Flex® (polylactic acid/copolyester compound) film grades. The new structure reportedly has the necessary mechanical properties for low-temperature apps: High impact strength and dart drop strength, as well as low glass-transition temperatures. The new freezable film is also compostable according to ASTM D 6400 and food-contact approved. More info
