Bemis to acquire remaining stake in South American subsidiary Dixie Toga
The Neenah, WI-based packaging converting giant intends to offer between $50 million and $55 million for all outstanding publicly owned shares of its Brazilian subsidiary Dixie Toga S.A. The figure is based on recent currency-exchange rates. More info  

Chesapeake packaging codes offer consumer/brand-owner interaction
Converter Chesapeake extends its product/packaging security solution, Pro-tex®, to offer consumer/brand-owner interaction. The system can verify the authenticity of a product, track its global distribution as well as deliver product and promotional information direct to the consumer. Consumers activate the Pro-tex system by sending a standard text message, detailing a unique alpha-numeric character ID code on the package, via a mobile phone or a Website. Pro-tex then delivers either further tailored product or complementary promotional information direct to the consumer.  More info

In-mold labeling competition deadline: June 1
The 4th annual In-Mold Decorating Assn. Awards Competition is accepting entries until June 1 in the categories of Best Part Designs, Best Thin-Wall Packaging, Best Injection-Mold Part, Best Blow-Mold Part, Best IMD Durable Product, Best Label Design and Best Product Family. Winners will be recognized Sept. 29-30 in Miami. More info  

FFTA Forum and INFO*FLEX 2010 Recap
The Foundation of Flexographic Technical Assn.’s 2010 Annual Forum and INFO*FLEX exhibition drew more than 1,500 stakeholders in the packaging-development chain to Las Vegas May 2-5. Over 400 flexographic printers, as well as their CPC customers, graphic designers, prepress trade shops and suppliers participated. On average, 350 people turned out for each of eight technical sessions. Standing-room-only was often the rule. INFO*FLEX was a sell-out with 186 firms displaying their wares. More info
