Introducing the all-new Converting Quarterly

Converting Quarterly cover imageAIMCAL, the Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators, today officially launches CONVERTING QUARTERLY, a new technical publication and Website for the web-processing, converting and finishing industry. The first print issue of CONVERTING QUARTERLY, scheduled to mail in February 2011, will have a circulation of 15,000.
As the associate publisher and editor-in-chief of the new magazine, I’ll be wearing several hats, including that of blogger because The Converting Curmudgeon will continue in force…in print and online. But more on that in a minute.

CONVERTING QUARTERLY will be distributed to converting professionals engaged in the web-processing technologies of solution, extrusion and vacuum coating; laminating; film manufacturing; flexographic and gravure printing; slitting; sheeting and other finishing methods. Each issue will include technical Q&A columns and 8-12 technical-journal articles on web-handling, coating/laminating and finishing processes and products.

Converting Quarterly LogoLet me introduce our team of columnists: Dr. Charles Bishop (vacuum web coating), Dr. Edward Cohen (solution coating),
Dr. Eldridge M. Mount (extrusion-coating, film manufacturing and vacuum metallizing),
Dr. David R. Roisum (web handling) and David Rumson (slitting/rewinding and finishing). They will write about technology, methods, new product development and troubleshooting in their specific areas of expertise. For the print features, we’ll accept submissions from converters, academia and the supplier community. Content will be technical and noncommercial in nature.

Back to the online angle now… CONVERTING QUARTERLY will maintain an Internet presence at http://www.convertingquarterly.com/, which also will be accessible as a channel from the newly redesigned AIMCAL Website. A weekly
e-Newsletter—CONVERTING QUARTERLY E-NEWS—will begin distribution soon, emailing to an initial audience of 7,500 readers. Look for a roundup of top converting-industry news stories each week, plus AIMCAL Blog posts, including The Converting Curmudgeon. That will also soon transition to the CQ Website. Until then, keep following my posts right here.

Free subscriptions to both print and digital editions of CONVERTING QUARTERLY as well as the weekly CQ E-NEWS are available to qualified readers. Check out our Website and subscribe at http://www.convertingquarterly.com/subscribe.aspx  You can submit your editorial materials to the AIMCAL office, aimcal@aimcal.org or directly to me at mark@aimcal.org

My Thoughts: So, it’s been a whirlwind couple of months, but I’m really looking forward to this terrific, new challenge. With the substantial resources and dedicated staff of AIMCAL (and our partner Peterson Publications) behind me, I promise to continue providing the timely industry news and opinion you demand as well as the important technical information you need to do your job better. Please post a Comment and tell me what you think.
